Vaccination In Dubai If You Are Passing Through

Today I received a message from one of our members asking if he could get vaccinated in Dubai while passing through.

He is the third person to ask me this, so I thought of posting a copy of my reply here for others information.

I am afraid what you want is not possible here.

Vaccines are available, and free, and can be had by just walking into a clinic.

But you have to be resident here to be able to get it.

We have a National ID, which is issued to every citizen, and resident visitors who work here.

It is tied to every aspect of life here.

One cannot get a phone or a bank account without it.

And it is required for anyone wishing to have a vaccine.

The vaccine operation here is extremely efficient.

In some busy centers one might take 2-3 hours for a walk in person to get it.

In others it is all over in less than an hour.

Some people actually book in advance, and that makes even shorter.

There is no other requirement as to age or nationality.

In fact, they have announced yesterday that citizens who are over 60 and wish to be vaccinated at home can register and they will come to them.

Fascinating as how well it is done here, but being a total disaster in what is supposed to be more advanced countries!

It should be done as well in the US, and could be, if those in charge would do their job instead of playing politics with vaccines and peoples health.

It’s quite efficient where I live. Went online, registered, and it took me about 5 minutes to do so. Went to my appointment and had only waited a out ten minutes.

Helped my parents with theirs. They drove up, got there vaccine, and were out very quickly.

My first shot was on the 13th, my second dose will be Thursday.

That is not the point.

Someone at least DID something to get the vaccine, and distribute it efficiently.

It varies greatly here county by county. It seems our county judges have become little dictators over their fiefdoms. Our county has done a good job with drive through vaccinations that are normally 30 - 60 minutes (including the 15 minutes after the vaccination). By comparison a larger neighboring county is happy that they have gotten the time down to 3 - 5 hours and are doing half the vaccinations per day. Now we have people from other counties registering here and driving in to get vaccinated.

I think a lot of it comes down to those that believed (or hoped) the vaccinations would actually be available by the end of 2020 and those that said it would be at least July or August. Some areas are just now getting their registration sites online.
