Been looking around DL is circa $1300 SAA $1800 round trip. Anyone found a better deal?

Try Emirates. I don't know how my ticket broke down, but I just got back from Zimbabwe and did not pay that much more. everyone was much more polite also than Delta.

That June Delta price you quoted is a killer deal considering that is the busy season that usually have higher prices than the off season.

Use kayak, expedia, priceline, etc. and you probably save a couple hundred. The day of the week makes a big difference on some flights, try flying on Tuesday through Thursday, also.

If you getting to Joburg and back for 1300 , that's a steal. I paid almost that much in 1972. I just paid $1,495.00 R/T to Australia, and not going to bitch as about a 1000 less than normal. Even 1800 to and from joburg a great price.

On Google flights, the lowest mid-June fares from SFO to JNB are $1,108 round trip on Virgin Atlantic.

DELTA pulled a really sleazy trick. On their fare calendar they show a fare of $1100 for the date pair in question (end may early june) and when you pull up the details they show the flights you want. However when you get into the return portion you have to go through timbuktoo to get that fare. To fly back the same route via ATL you have to pay 1300. OK well you suck that up. Then when you enter your CC info they come back with "Oops sorry the fare has gone up to $1500". I can't tell you how much this pisses me off. We moved the hunt dates specifically to take advantage of that 1100 fare. If SAA wasn't so shaky (and crappy) I would not fly Delta. Emirates is the answer I guess. Just takes a lot longer to get from A to B.

I just did a search on United's website for two tickets from LAX to Jo'Berg flying Sunday June 10th and coming back on the 19th and it's $2,317.32 for two people inclusive of all taxes and fees. That's $1,158.66 each roundtrip.
