Transiting USA from Bahamas en route to SA
Anyone know what one has to do to travel with firearms originating in Bahamas, connecting in the USA to RSA? Normally this entails getting a flight to Miami, then to Atlanta. So I fear you have to clear customs in Miami and that's where the red tape will crop up wrt firearms ... and then there is the return journey, not sure you can do it without clearing customs in the USA at some point.

Don't know, Russ, but believe some of our Canadian members have posted on this question. Imagine you can call one of the travel people who freqent the Board (Kathi or Gracey) and ask them.

According to USA laws you cannot take possesion of a firearm while transitting through the USA. If you have to clear customs you will be breaking the US laws unless you have a US import permit (not practical to get/expensive). We have the same problem when travelling from Canada and transitting through the USA. NOT RECOMMENDED
