Larry SellersYou didn't mention where you are going, but if through JoBerg the airport shops are filled with some fairly neat things. I usually pick up a few things (small)there that will fit in my carry on bags. If there are local villages in your hunting area, this is a good place to pick up local items. Good luck on your first African Adventure.

ted thornWe purchase several things local on our last day as we departed in a local area. They wrapped it up very well in news paper and tape and we put it all in our cary on bags. As Larry said....the Johannesburg airport literally has a mall inside
Also get some change "metal money" as very cheap gifts
Enjoy yourself

Hunter10,
My daughters and grand daughters love the polished stone jewelry, (Tanzanite, etc.) found in the airport shops.
Colorful T-shirts for the kids with African animals and the country's name on them are always appreciated, my daughters always brag about me travelling to different countries.

LabmanYou can always buy things at the Joberg airport, but prices are high (like most airports). Shop locally and if you can't get everything you want, pick up the rest at the airport on your return. The Out of Africa gift shop in the Joberg airport has a lot of "stuff."

Sadly a bit late in asking for assistance and lacking in any detail. This site has the best people in the world to offer assistance and almost all of us are most willing to help.

kudu4uIf you will be in the Pietersburg/Polokwane region there is a terrific souvenir store not far from the airport. All the PHs in the area are highly familiar with this store...the name of which leaves me right now. They have a huge selection with excellent service and good packing out.
