The middle eastern airlines are massively subsidized by their governments/royal families. Kind of gulf air forces - which are flying clubs.

The us airlines are not really scared of middle eastern airlines. Middle East airlines serve crappy yield markets - africa, indian sub con ect from us perspective. No one will fly nyc to lon via dubai or lax to tokyo.

What sacres the us airlines is middle eastern airlines decimate European carriers and they drop capacity in the atlantic. See what emirates did to quantas.

Same time boeing sells a ton of planes to emirates ect. Why you are seeing delta break with boeing and buying airbus planes.

US airlines bankruptcies were not subsidies - equity holders got whipped out and bonds got equitized. Only us government subsidy was in having bankruptcy laws and ch 11 process.
