Austin HunterNamibia and KLM Rifle Questions
Any limits on # of rifles per person? For Namibia and transit on KLM? I couldn't find any.
Trying to decide on a third rifle.
Understand I have to get forms from the Netherlands to transit. Working that.

D. NelsonAustin Hunter:
Your Outfitter (or whoever you are hunting with in Namibia) should be able to give you the current info on firearm allowances for Namibia.
I've flown KLM twice to Tanzania, but don't remember the limitation...we use Tuffpaks and took 2 rifles per person. But for some reason I'm thinking it is 3. Probably best to call them if you are not working with a travel agent.
Best regards, D. Nelson

StonecreekTo my knowledge, Namibia does not limit the number of rifles per person, but does limit each person to only ONE rifle of a given caliber (cartridge, not bore). If you take three rifles (and I'll assure you, that's too many) then each will need to be of a caliber different from the others.
Three of us went to Namibia and we took a total of four rifles (that made one spare for the group.) Two of the rifles in the lot of four were .30-06's, so we made sure that two different hunters carried the two '06's.

FjoldI believe that the restriction of only one rifle per chambering is in South Africa, not Namibia.

Don't know about S.A. as I've never been there or even passed through there, only to Namibia. Namibia has a "one rifle per caliber per hunter" rule. Or at least they did when I went a few years ago.

SIKA98KA 375 does everything in Namibia. A few years ago I was using a 308 or 7x57.
Last year I used a 375, great round for all round use.
