Traveling with Shotgun Shells
I am flying direct from London Gatwick to Harare Zimbabwe in June this year. I am not taking any rifles, Shotguns or ammunition. I would however like to do some bird shooting while in Zimbabwe.

Is it possible to travel with Shotgun Shells if you are not taking guns?

Thanks
Mike

With kind regards

Why not ask the English version of TSA and also your airline? They are the ones who will decide what enforcement to apply, if any.

I was not aware there were direct Gatwick-Hre flights???

Mike,

No it's not.

The EU have a firearms embargo to Zim & that includes ammo.

Why not just buy the ammo in Zim?

You can buy shotgun shells in Zimbabwe at $65-$75 a box. I've taken 4 boxes of shells before, declared them on the Zim permits and no problems. The next person will tell you a horror story, it's what makes going to Africa interesting. However, I've had lots of practice after hunting Mexico for 20+ years.

A guy was arrested a few years ago for taking 22 magnum cartridges and he had no such rifle. I wouldn't do it.
