Long and when working with the Govt. aggravating at times. But worth it if you travel frequently! It is nice to skirt around the long lines and get through customs in mere minutes!

When my wife and I applied the wait at DFW airport for an appointment was about 6 months, we were able to drive down to Houston (about 200 miles from our house) and get it done within a week. I have no idea of there is another airport near you but it's worth checking.

I did it 2 years ago at LAX when the appointment times were about a month. I'm not looking forward to my renewal.

My wife, daughter and and myself applied then the program first started out. I think we waited a couple of weeks to get to schedule the appointment. I would think based on current demand that time would increase to months.

It took two days for my wife and about ten days for me to be "conditionally approved" a couple of months ago.

We were able to get interview appointments in Pittsburgh about four weeks afterwards.

I had mine in under a month.

Did you fill out the on line form?
I checked daily for up dates...

Then when my interview came up, i scheduled my appointment. picked early in the day, when they are not busy. as they allow walk up for the interview process.

Make sure you take your vehicle registration with you if you are doing the Canada or Mexico fast lane.

and then my letter and card were in the mail.
went in a activated it.

I was conditionally approved in 2 weeks. It took 5 months to get an appointment in Denver. They absolutely do NOT allow walk ins in Denver.

I have had mine since 2014. Got conditionally approved in less than a month then looked at the Chicago Ohare schedule and was in for my appointmen less than three weeks later. All told maybe 6 weeks. Very easy process at that time.

I'm guessing the volume of applicants is much greater now. Not looking forward to my renewal next year.

Here in San Antonio when I initially applied I was told the earliest appointment I could get was 3 months. Called Austin and they said two weeks, but advised me to call the San Antonio office repeatedly. I called every two or three days to question availability and had an appointment in two weeks. Go figure.

When I came through the border at the Columbia Bridge near Laredo this past weekend, I asked the agent if my Global Entry status would help me get through the line quicker. (I waited over an hour to get across) He flatly stated it does not help you crossing in from Mexico. Does anyone know different????

My timeframe was about 5 months for the interview. The hallway outside the office at DFW was packed. The actual interview was quick and easy.

My problem has been that I never get the precheck. The problem is that my card does not match my name exactly as it appears on my passport. After trying and trying to speak with someone, I finally found a live person. I just need to go back without an appointment to get it fixed.

I seriously don’t think so. I’m named after my father and have a suffix. It is often a problem while traveling, especially while I’m with him.

You need to have a sentri card if you want to drive across the border more quickly.

I think processing time is conditioned on both location and timing..

When I went through the process to obtain GE, it took about 90 days at DFW..

My wife went through the process about a year later at DFW (just a few months ago), and it took her less than 2 weeks...

We had a similar experience with CBP 4457's..

It took me over a month to get an "appointment" with the guy at the regional airport in McKinney, TX.. and then when I got there, even though no one else was present, it took about an hour to go through the process.. the agent would spend 2 minutes looking for his pad of CBP 4457's.. then 10 minutes doing something else.. then he spent about 10 minutes playing with my rifles.. then he went on to doing something else for about 10 minutes, etc..etc..

My wife hauled a couple of rifles down to DFW back in December (no notice, no appointment).. and walked out of there with a 4457 in hand in less than 15 minutes..

Your case seems quite a bit different than our experiences.

One Thursday afternoon, I made an appointment for my son on the following morning (Friday). We did the interview, and he had his Known Traveler number in less than 24 hours.

Mine took a little longer, about 4 days from making the appointment to being all done.

Does it make it easier coming back through Atlanta. Last time I almost filed a complaint they treated me so bad. Go mine now so hoping they will be a little more reasonable with USA citizens
