Anyone gotten this shot before? Side effects? I have been advised to get it. It does not prevent rabies but it improves the treatment if you get rabies. It is a relatively new vaccine, apparently the old one wasn't great. Thanks in advance!

I've had the rabies series about 15 years ago. It is three shots spaced a couple or three weeks apart. The vaccine is by Merck and is a new process (human diploid serum??) that did not give me any side effects. It protects but you should get a full series (which is the same serum) if a rabid animal or one you believe so has bitten or licked you...

I've had them also. Certainly more important for veterinarians and spelunkers than for hunters. No problems.

I am in the Vaccine business and used to manufacture this vaccine. Have had the shots many times. Got exposed to a live virus spill at work on time and had a significant immune response (pustules in throat)...disgusting but the vaccine saved my butt. I had to have no further treatment
