FAST996It's Blank time and descisions too, need opinions
I will be soon sending these blanks off to have rifle projects finished. I would like some feed back as I have collected these 3 blanks and like them all.
The two barreled actions are both Rigbys,a 416 and 450. All the blanks are turkish, quarter sawn and very dense. I tend to favor a rich dark color on the reddish side. 2 of the blanks have this quality naturally one does not.
Is there a odd man out between all three? The gold yellow highlights one cost's about twice as much as the other two.

SmallCalI'm with thirdbite, like the grain flow and color of #2 best. Of the other two, #1 if you can layout to get the grainflow correct in the wrist and a slight upward sweep on the forend. I would use #2 on the 450 and #1 on the 416.
Just my opinion, worth what it cost

FAST996Here's a photo I found GMA's site, some real nice wood of all types. So is there a unspoken standard or is it really personal preference.

cmfic1Of your blanks, I prefer #2
I wouldnt say thers an "odd duck out" of your 3, I think all of them vary enough to turn out 3 very different lookiing rifles.
Of the GMA pics, I highly prefer #2 & #6

FAST996Of the GMA's 1&4 are too tame,3 is out and the rest are fine.

TC1I think #1 is the best looking but it turns down in the forend a little. #3 has too much figure for my tastes. Of the three I like #2.

BiebsI'd get input from your gunmaker. They can see things from years of turning out stocks that we aren't aware of.

FAST996Yes, I plan to send all 3 to him. If he Ok's 1 & 2 I'll probably go with them as they are both darkish reddish chocolate and I am most favorable to those properties. The darker the better in gunstocks.
Top blank is #3,lower is #2 ,haven't recieved #1 yet in the flesh. Bottom photo is closer to what they actually look like.
Photos could be better, but I'm not to good at photography.
