I think Dorleac & Dorleac have excellent taste in a working rifle.

And you don't see a lot of .270 Winchesters that look like this:

What is a DWM rust blue, or should I say how is a DWM rust blue different from a "slow rust blue" or any other rust blue?

And will there be those who will say that the .45 Caliber is not desireable because it has an H ring action?

I think they just mean it was rust blued in the style of the DWM factory, to resemble the original blueing.

I fell in love with the Dorleac rifles when I visited their shop in Perpignan, France last November. Here, I am pictured with Joel Dorleac, (who is in the green jacket), as I am holding "the Rhino Gun" in .500 Jeffery. I eventually broke down and gave myself an early Christmas of this rifle. In my opinion, these are some of the most beautiful rifles currently made. Cheers. Chip.

Chip,

When I saw the "sold" banner on that web page I wondered who got there first. Excellent.

Wink: once I handled it, it was all over but the crying. Although I paid for it in December, I probably will not see the gun until this summer due to export/import red tape. Frowner . Cheers. Chip.

I'm glad D&D is on the other side of the pond! Couldn't see myself walking out of that place without something (or some things)!!!! Never handled their guns, but they sure look nice.

If you want a working rifle for bad weather conditions, Joel can also build on stainless barreled actions (not Mausers) that he gets a German firm to blue for a classic appearance. His work is incredible, and, yes, I am proud to consider him a friend.

If was spending big bucks on a classic mauser build, for the money- Id want;
- a C-ring as per M98 orig. design,
- a proper magnum length action if chambering for something like the long .375hh or .458lott.

its no different to insisting on having orig. features like:
a traditional H&H side mount, traditional combined leaf/aperture sight setup,
or period slotted wall feature, or later period solid left wall, or trad.Oberndorf style BH,.. etc,etc,etc,
