customboltThanks. I'll try for some better pictures in natural light. These pictures are awful and don't do this rifle justice. Sorry.

bwanamrmVery nice Ray!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

customboltIt's the original half inch Old English pad. Al cleaned it up. Might replace it with an .80 Old English in brown someday.

montea6bNice! What action is that?
09 October 2016, 03:30
customboltThanks. Action is based on a small ring Mauser 98 and was one of a limited run (50 reported) of double square bridge actions with integrated quick release scope mounts. It was designed and made by H.L. Grisel before he co-founded Dakota Arms in 1986. He also was one of the founding fathers of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG).

customboltheavenknows - Thanks for the pictures and reply.
Both of your rifles are very nice and that Ledger color case is very fine. I anticipated having my first Grisel action French Greyed and some fine scroll added and the Grisel name enhanced, plus fine border work on the bottom metal. But, decided that I prefer a higher grade wood to warrant that. So, I ended up having it restored to the original look.
I had one of the anchor screws loosen up when I fire-formed some cases on this rifle. They require a lot of torque to hold tightly. I added a new scope and then torqued them so hard that I twisted the hex wrench. Hope it's enough. Might head out to the range today. It's too windy to test hand loads. But, at least I can see how I like the new scope and see if the rings will hold tight now.
Danke

Thanks for the info! I've obviously heard of Grisel, but never realized that he actually marketed his own action.

customboltYou're welcome. Google Dakota 76 and H.L. Grisel sometime. He had a hand in its' development as well.
