How about an 8mm-378 Weatherby?

CCMDocHow about an 8mm-378 Weatherby?
I’ve wanted one for a couple of decades.
No, I don’t need it and yes, have a 338-378, a 30-378 and an 8mm REM Mag (plus various others bigger and smaller) so have all bases covered.
Would love it to be built on a stainless Mk V action with a stainless, fluted barrel.
I have 257 WBY Stainless Synthetic but the bolt face would have to be opened up (I believe all Mk V are the same other than that).
I don’t have dies and don’t know if I could get blank 378 brass.
Any takers out there?

customboltHope you got deep pockets. Not a pro. But, pretty sure it is not a simple bolt face operation using the 257wby. Action much smaller than a .378 wby.
Good luck.

CCMDocThanks
I thought all 9-lug Weatherby Mk V actions were the same size. I’ll have to pull my 257 and 416 out to compare.
If they’re different, I will start with a 378 size action with proper bolt face though dont know if those were ever made in SS.

Paddles10I made a .257 Weatherby into a 358 shooting times. Bolt face no issue. An end mill in the bolt stop groove in the bolt cured the overall length issue.
The bolt on my .378 and the 358 are interchangeable. So you'll be able to just open the bolt face and change the magazine out to a single stack. I looked at a 35 Wells but having 3 down instead of 2 for an elk rifle and not having to buy new Weatherby parts tipped the scale. No elk has noted the difference.

CCMDocThank you for the confirmation.
I have to agree - outcome always the same regardless of cartridge or firearm - as long as I do my part.
