Shelhamer 52
Santa arrived a little early. I have been looking for a Shelhamer 52 for some time, preferably a pre-war one. He stocked several 52's, including a couple Kornbrath engraved ones which are way out of my league. This one showed up on Gunbroker a while back so with a bit of encouragement from a well intentioned "friend" I hit the buy it now button. I couldn't be happier with it. Very well executed stock. Typical pre-war Shelhamer quality, nice piece of wood, and seems to fit me very well. He even did a very good job of mitigating the hump back look that so many 52 sporters have, and he did it without extensive reworking of the tang or extending the trigger which is the usual method.

The photo of the bottom of the forend shows the little brass washer he used on nearly all his rifles to attach the forend to the barrel. Oh the humanity, not floating the barrel.

Very nice choice gasgunner. Pure elegance. Every custom rifle owner should have a nice .22 RF in his accumulation.
Not quite as nice as yours. But, it fills the niche.
