I know the parts that Wisner makes are first rate. I'm about to pull the trigger on a custom from their shop-really nice wood, very extensively checkered, with a Douglas featherweight tube. Its a little awkward asking, since I know that Jim posts here, but I'd like to know if anybody here has experience with their complete rifles.

I've seen two-

Never owned or fired one

Both were exceptionally nice in fit finish and balance-

Hopefully someone else can provide you with shooting/functioning/accuracy input.

I have a friend who owns three. Excellent quality builds. I shot the 505 Gibbs about a hundred rounds one month a couple years ago.

Can someone please post photos of Wisner's rifles...

The ones I've seen were all first class. Think Jim did them all by himself.

To have some more information out there for people.

LeeRoy Wisner got his first FFL in 1959, a few guns were built most are not marked, but some are marked Wisner's Repair.

In Jan of 1973 we moved, and opened the Gunshop, so now the barrels are marked Wisner's Gunshop. I started making the gunstocks at this time.

In the spring of 1976, we became Incorparated, the barrels are now stamped Wisner's Gunshop Inc.

In 1985 Dad and Mom moved the Gunshop into town.
So the markings now read the Chehalis address. This is when I went on my own, and opened PME.

Nov. of 1994 they close the Gunshop.

NOW for the important stuff, all rebarrels were stamped as well. I did most of the barrel jobs up till 1985-86, as well as all of the stocks until 1985 - 86 when another stockmaker was hired. On the underside of the barrel in the breech, the barrel will have stamped the make of the barrel, and either a date or date code using Remingtons code as well as the intitals of the person doing the job. So many more rebarrels were done rather than custom rifles. Dad was buying Douglass and Shilen blank barrels in bulk, and we would contour to what the customer wanted.

Personally I had bought a one peice stamp in 1986, and still use the J.L.Wisner name, if I only did the metalwork, then my name is stamped on the underside. If I did the complete rifle then my name is stamped on the top side of the barrel. Some of the custom rifles had my name later engraved on the top side by the stockmaker.
