Some call it the Prince of Wales, others call it the "Half Pistol Grip". Those that call it the Half Pistol Grip consider the Prince of Wales to be a much shorter grip.

Thanks guys...I had never seen one like this and just found it really interesting. I can't figure out if it looks good or just unique.

I typically like the half pistol or prince of wales grips but that one strikes me as odd. Perhaps it is the checkering.

They are not functional for me, much like the small pistols where half of my fingers aren't holding anything, I cannot get a good grip on them.

That is a German or Austrian mauser Guild rifle,
The grip is a Prince of Whales grip.

I call it an Oberndorf grip. I'm not sure if that is correct for this type. http://www.sniperforums.com/fo...-mauser-model-b.html

Half pistol grip or Prince of Wales it is. Thanks to all, I learned something new today. Here's some nice wood for those who appreciate it. http://www.aya-fineguns.com/pr...OBJECT%20OF%20DESIRE CB
