A Custom built 350 Rem Mag - Leonard Mews Mannlicher Stock
I recently purchased this rifle with my 2 brothers as a gift. A big "thank you" shout out to loud-n-boomer for offering such a nice Custom rifle. It appears the Douglas barrel and metal-work was done by PD Cain in Dec. 1966 as marked
"Douglas Barrel by PD Cain 122966", but the stock / checkering was gone by Leonard Mews. I found Leonard's a very light stamp in the barrel channel - now enhanced with some dark stain. The seller's description tells all. A field test will follow next week.
as always, your comments are most welcome

Nice old 60s build; I like the 350 RM and have built several. I wonder why you didn't post more pictures though; is 19 all you had?

What additional pictures would you like to see?

Michael RobinsonI like it a lot! Now, just put some express sights on it and it will be perfect.

I agree - it would look better with express sights, but my 73 year old eyes like a scope.

That last part was an attempt at a joke. I have about a .5 success rate on them, here. Lots of guys on AR have no sense of humor.

OK,sights added, but I'll never use them. I'm a scope guy.

buckstixWe had a nice warm day today. It got up to 39 degrees - so I went to the range to test a couple loads with the 350 Rem Mag. I just might use this for Bear hunting this Fall.
Here are the 2 targets. I love my new Garmin chronograph.

You did get me on that one!
Ok, super groups; go with the Barnes, and as for me, I don't shoot light bullets in the 350 anyway. 200, 225, or 250.
I still have a Ruger, and a Rem 600 in 350. I had a Rem 700 with a full striped stock but I sold that one...

buckstixI really like the 600s. I have one in 350 RM, one in 6.5 RM, one in 222, one in 30-30, and one in 35 REM. I sold my 600 in rare .223 caliber because it was too valuable to keep. And I also had the Remington 700s in 6.5 mag and 350 Mag, but also sold those two because they were too valuable to keep.

Austin HunterI have Rem 600s in .222 Rem, .308, and 350 Rem Mag.
I have a 250 gr Partition load in the 350. Man, not a fun rifle to shoot!

Your 600 weighs a little less than 5-1/2 pounds and generates about 43 ft/lbs of recoil with your load. My custom 350 mag weighs 8-1/2 pounds and generates about 28 ft/lbs of recoil with the same load, and is fun to shoot. Stick some lead into the stock to reduce recoil.
I only need to shoot once, so the recoil is not even noticeable.

This little puppy has mild recoil compared to my 700NE double rifle.
