A 450 Dakota for one of our posters
This is a rifle built on a Waffen/Hein barreled action. I added the express rib and from sights, an extra recoil lug and an engraved bolt handle. Enjoy, Jim

Jim,
That is one beautiful rifle, I love your combination of form an function with great metal and wood work. Good Job.
Always something for me to strive for in a custom.

I am pleased as punch! You can't tell, but the muzzle is threaded for a brake. Jim made an unknurled cap that fits up against the front sight band, making it invisible. This rifle was rather plain and in a synthetic stock when I got it. It's now much more suitably attired as an African Express rifle. Thanks Jim....Biebs

Amazing looking rifle. I noticed the express sights haven't been ground to a V yet. I'm guessing you're going to tailor them for a specific load?

Biebs
Brandon, I'll scope it to develop the load, then remove the scope and cut the rear sight to regulate for that load. Then Jim will either touch blue or gold outline the "V".

Great looking rifle, the aesthetics that you can get from a custom rife are definitely what sets it apart.

I was wondering why the front sight was set to far back. Nice rifle.

Beautiful and functional rifle Jim... congrats to you and the lucky owner, Biebs! Dude you have too many nice guns! Then again I guess none of us can have enough custom rifles! What was I thinking...

Wow, I just received the rifle in person, and the pix truly don't do it justice. Little touches like the checkered boltstop, the teardrops on the bolt knob, and the cool little "pedestal" that the rear swivel mount sits atop. When quickly shouldered, it comes right up to the sights. I may use this rifle in the "classic" way with open sights, even though the bridges are dovetailed for Talleys. Elegant! Who needs Viagra???

Not with a rifle like that. WOW- I'm definately jealous. I sure hope there's an elephant in that rifles future.

The wood was a blank I bought from Adam and Clay at Luxus. I found the rifle stocked in synthetic, and Jim restocked it for me, added NECG Masterpiece sights, barrel band, quarter rib, and some other touches. Very pleased. :-)

Jon...I had missed this when Jim first started this thread.
Really a great resurrection from it's prior condition, with those needed improvements you and Jim have created a benchmark rifle.
When you grow tired of admiring it, call me.

Yes, it deserved better than the synthetic stock. I got a great piece of Luxus walnut from Adam & Clay, then we added a quarter rib, NECG Masterpiece sights, barrel band, and other touches befitting a top-shelf safari rifle. Thanks for the comment!
