Best wat to date a Commerical FN Mauser,

I bought a Commerical ,semi custom 270 Mauser here last fall, how is the best way to date the gun, SN's? very best Winpoor

I believe the proof marks will help with dating the gun. Try posting some pictures, the folks here helped date one of mine.

Manufacture dates are usually stamped on the side of the receiver ring under the wood.
