Vintage Krag Sporter
Here is a Krag sporter from the 1930s. It was built by Native Amercan gunsmith Elmer Kay (or Kaye). It has a pacific front sight and a Lyman 57K rear aperture sight. I think it is pretty advanced in style for 80 years ago.

Nice looking rifle. I have sort of a soft spot for Krags. Mine looks simular to yours.

Don't ask me what happened, when I left Viet Nam, we were winning.

Me too! My dad bought an arsenal sporter from the NRA back in probably the 1930s (born in 1916) and it became my first centerfire rifle. Similar set-up, with shortened barrel, sporterized stock, and receiver sight. Still shoots 180gr Core-Lokt rounds very well. I still take it out once in a while. Feels good to get back to the way hunting used to be for a change.

That's a very tasteful stock indeed!

A couple years ago, there was a custom Mannlicher-stocked Krag on Gun Broker that was built way back when for Hollywood actor Dick Powell. I think it was $1,800 or so. Beautiful rifle....shouda-coulda-woulda!
