These are rifles I have completed, the bolt rifle is for a friend/client who posts on this forum, the other is a double W.J.Jeffrey in 450-400 I did a few years ago but just finished the foren. When this thing came back from Africa, the buttstock had been broken through the wrist when it was run over.

Beautiful stocks. I like to bottom metal on the Mauser. You don't see that on many custom stocked rifles.

Do you have any photos of the broken stock? If so I would like to see them.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Nicely done.

Looks like you got the Jeffrey stock "look" right.

Well done.

Has the Jeffrey been refinished recently - ie when you restocked it - or was it done before that ?

All very nice. I prefer more drop at heel, but that's just me.

Very Nice, I am trying a little checkering myself but I'm not having much luck at it. Please show us the end result. You are obviously talentedd. It also takes a lot of determination to put that kind of time in. DW
