Banded rear sight base.
I'm considering putting a banded rear sight base on a rifle barrel. I can't find any pics online so I'm wondering if anyone can post some pics for me so I can get an idea of what it will look like.

Nothing wrong with the NECG product but the fact that the sight is built with parallel sides instead of being tapered to match the barrel just catches my eye. Here is one straight off the mill, final polish still required on a .500 NE Webely falling block.

Here's a little different look for a banded rear sight. Magic performed by Duane Wiebe on a BRNO ZG-47 in 9.3X64.

Very nice Forrest B.

(But if you don't wipe the finger prints off that beauty I am going to book a flight to Houston to do it for you!)

Here's another Wiebe creation on a 404 Jeffery. It's a little prettier but I think I prefer the all-business look of the sights on the 9.3X64.

All you have to do is start with a little block of steel...

For what its worth Lothar Walthar has the original Mauser pattern for a barrel with a straight cut area designed to slide on the barrel band sight. Looks very nice.

Mausers sight bands are not supposed to be tapered; that is a look you will have to get used to if you want to replicate the original Mauser.
