scope mount question for pre-64 long magnum action
not sure where to post this question so will start here: want to mount a Leupold VX Freedom 1.5-4x on a pre-64 long magnum action using weaver 2 pc. cross slot mount and Burris Z rings. Will this require exension mounts? thank you.

Are they a longer receiver?

All pre 64 actions are the same length. The hole spacing is different on the 300&375 Mag actions.

Should be no problem. That is not a very long scope but actually has more space to pull the scope back with no objective bell. Rear base screws on that action are spaced closer due to the cut out of the action, action length is the same. If you have an issue it will be with the front ring but my bet is that there will be no problem. I think you can get it back far enough for proper eye relief.

Use an extension ring in the front and you will be fine with most scopes..Some Leupolds are very short, but the extensions work on all Ive tried..and give you room to play with position of your scope in regards t stock length.

Pre 64 is a shorter action than the post 63 action.
