Fat girl gets a new dress
I hand polished this one out to remove the existing pitting, and added the sling swivels, my engraver re-cut the original engraving and added the barrel script. If I were to guess I would think either Clayton Nelson or Len Bull likely turned the integral barrel. Plenty of fire power in this old single. Case color hardening done by Classic Guns in Crete, Il.

Just wow! She is not fat. She is simply big boned.

I am glad you were able to resurrect such a great piece.

Forgive me for being direct, but how much does she weigh?

Thanks for asking, Lee! I was stymied as well...I even Googled ".557 3"" to see what this old soldier was all about!

The owner added lead to the stock and fore end to tame the recoil. I think it is a bit over 12 lbs now.

Cool old Farqy!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Vol717
I've only owned one Farquharson. I bought it online and when I received it, I was surprised at how huge it was! About 1-1/2 Ruger No 1s. Mine was a 450/400 3" with exotic engraving made for an Indian nobleman. Not my taste but I made money on it. Are there different sizes of these actions or are they all so huge?

Weighs 11lbs 6oz
A nice weight for the 90 Cordite 650 grain bullet equivalent loading; though the rifle would take it, I would not like to fire a modern 100 Cordite 750 bullet load.

Not originally a .577, rebarreled at some point, too bad original barrel was not saved.

For the other posts: it is a 1902 Webley action and not related to a Farquarson except for being British. Nobody knows for certain, but Wal Winfer says that there were only 200-600 of the 1902's made.

For "Vol717"....there were 3 sizes of the basic 1902 action, one for "small bore" size, then the big Nitro's, then there was one bigger that was 12Bore.

We need to get together next year and shoot the Webleys!
Probably not too often two big Webley '02s are brought together.
Although mine's just a .500...

Haven't visited /contributed to the Forum in a while. A baby keeps ya busy and sleep deprived.

SKB, great job cleaning up the Webley. Looks like pure British class now.

We've talked about them in the past and I know the Webley isn't your favorite British Single. I have no idea about the internals compared to others, but on the outside I really like em'.

With restorations, imports, and custom work on your plate, you sure seem like a busy guy these days!

Best Regards
