357MAGAGComparative rifle to Cooper
Who makes a semi-custom or custom centerfire rifle in the same price range as the Cooper and includes 1/2 guaranty and stainless with wood option?
After reading the current thread discussing Cooper rifles I am reconsidering purchasing one and would like to know comparable options.
Thanks
Nice wood stock, made in USA, guarantee 1/2 MOA with FACTORY loads, $1700? Nobody! Why reconsider a Cooper?

GeedubyaI now own 10 Coopers. All have been purchased used. All except 1 were purchased between $900 and $1250
3 classics
3 varminters
2 montana varminters
1 varmint extreme
1 jackson game (repeater)
All have been purchased used. Eight were purchased between $900 and $1,100. The jackson game model 52 in 25-06 with 26" fluted stainless barrel with 5 boxes of premium ammo for $1,250.
If you want a Cooper and are patient there is no need to pay $1,700.
The one that I stepped up and paid more for, I did so because it was a varmint extreme,AAA wood, factory brake.
I try to buy Coopers used at about 60% of MSRP

BiebsWhen you put wood in the equation, it's pretty much Cooper, or stepping "down" to Kimber.

GeedubyaI tell folks I have a love/hate relationship with Kimbers. I love the ones that shoot. I hate the ones that don't. I've owned three montana's and three classics. Don't own any Kimbers at the present.

Only other maker I know of that guarantees 1/2 MOA is GA Precision. They start at $2,800. No wood options. Even Weatherby has raised their guarantee to 1.5 MOA @ 100 yds.

BiebsHS Precision guarantees 1/2" as well, and all the ones I've had make that mark pretty easily. There's a bunch of accuracy-guaranteed brands or models out there now.

BiebsThe Weatherby Mark V has always had a 1 1/2" guarantee. You're thinking of the MOA models, which are still 1".

ghostrider272For me, I had a Win M70 LH rebarreled to a 6.5x55 stainless fluted and put a McMillan stock on it. I bought the M70 used and all told, i have 1500$ in it. It shoots <1 MOA on everything I've put through it.
I've looked at the Coopers, but can't justify spending the $$ on a new rifle when I could rebarrel one of my Sakos or M70s...

dwheelsThe rifle I have that was made when Dan Copper had sold the business is a beaut. Very accurate, very pretty, buy one used like Geedubaya says. you won't be dissapointed. I did a lot of research when I bought mine. It was at that time the best buy for the buck and if you can get into one for the right price, it still is. I would imagine, hope, that there are a lot nicer people there on the floor making the product than Dan Cooper. DW
