CE Grace Mauser
I found this at a local gun show today. I know nothing about it other than what can be seen. It’s a 270 and has C.E. Grace on the barrel. Anyone familiar with the maker? Interested in what people can point out to me regarding the build.

I would presume it was built by Chuck Grace, an ACGG member who was(is) an instructor at Trinidad College.

Charles Grace out of Colorado is my guess. ACGG member and renown stockmaker and gun builder. You got a good one!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Everything is nice except his name stamping is terrible.

Some of the stamping issue may be photography related. I know the rifle feels very nice. Very light and lively in the hands. I was thinking that was the smith, but wasn’t sure as I have seen his name a few different ways but not referred to as “C.E.” other than this stamping.

It was hand stamped crooked. Maybe someone else did that because it is out of character and quality.

I never seen a fore end like that one. He could of used a nicer piece of wood.

Love the shape of the bottom metal and the the integral swivel stud.

I went back and looked and yeah. I see one of the letter is especially out of line with the rest of the name.

My least favorite decision on it is probably the jeweled bolt release.

Both easily fixed.

Stamping is way off.
Email him a couple pictures to verify he made it? I think he is still around.

I did send him some pictures a few days ago. He remembered the rifle. It was built in 1984. Built off an Erfurt small ring action. Blackburn bottom metal and trigger.

It was a Kar98 to begin with.

Look to the Brno 21 for fore end. Better wood, sure, always nice when the budget allows. Nothing wrong with the stick he used.

Glad he's still around to prove that he made it Kid.
Nice score if the price was right (hint).

Ah. KAR 98 (not visible in the photo). Kinda figured that after I read the Erfurt above. My Erfurt action is quite smooth.

Yeah. It reminds me a lot of my Model 21 stocks. Speaking of price, I am kind of curious what kind of value y’all would give it.

Under $2K.
