Any good, oldschool, gunshops or hunting stores in the area? Thanks.

Used to be one called the Powder Horn out in Hillsboro, but it was good only if you like blackpowder arms. I am still haunted by the pristine Ballard No. 5 Pacific they had there a few years back.

Lots of good reviews here. Put your cursor on the thread title and it will show you the address without having to open the thread to see where the shop is.

The Powder Horn out of business as of July 1, 2010.

H&K in Forest Grove, Oregon is a custom shop, plus repairs and lots of used stuff. (Herb and Kurt Mueller) Kurt will make you drool over custom rifles. (503) 357-6807

Al's Hardware and Gun repair in Verboort, just northt of Forest Grove, Oregon does retail sales, repairs and some custom work. Marcus Schmidt is a top smith. (503) 357-2441

Allison and Carey on 173rd/Powell in SE Portland just off I-84. Great shotgun work, general smithing and some used stuff.

Murray's is out of business and Earl Milliron is retired.

Buddy, thanks for that update. I have always been puzzled by the lack of a truly great gun store in Portland.

Portland is not a firearms hating utopia, just the politicatins. Oregon is well knowned as a training ground or spring board for recent political graduates or intern's from the east coast to start a career in politic's before going on a national level. Oregonian are now seeing the patterned and hopefully will understand to elect native's not Kalifornian or worse yet a New Yorker with jewish upbringing.
