Empire Rifle in 338 WM
All,

Been a bit since I've checked in, hope you all are well; I've got an Empire 98 in .338 WM, the Liberty model for any that recall the models that they offered before they went the way of the Dodo. Bought it slightly used from the snake-oil salesman himself, the barrel is cropped to approx 22" w/the muzzle un-blued, and the floor-plate screws are slightly buggered, but beyond that it's in excellent condition. Question is, not sure I need a 338 and I'm contemplating whether to get it re-chambered to something more interesting, or just outright sell it. I've got a custom .300 WM that I love, and as the big bears aren't in my sights, not sure of the necessity of the 338 for me. Thoughts or suggestions ? Appreciated in advance ...

Best Regards,

Sounds like you need to send it down the road...

So a true rifle loony would sight it in.

Put in the safe for the day he might want to shoot thing with it.

That is why I have two over flowing safes.

Unless you really really really need the money.

I never sell. The few I have sold I wished I had back.

I have to agree with this bit of philosophy. I can't recall regretting any firearm purchase I made, but I've mentally kicked myself for the ones I sold/traded/let get away.

I've sold quite a few. Some I have purchased for the sole purpose of flipping. A few I sure wish I had back. Some I look back and wonder, what was I thinking? But, all the ones I have sold were to trade up to something I could not live with out...at least at that moment!

But you will get to a point where you will realize that a gun is just a thing thats with you for a short time while you are here on this earth and that someday you really don't need it. Its just a tool.

If you don't need it let somebody else enjoy it for awhile.

It's doubtful Empire rifles will appreciate in value.

Shoot it first. If it doesn't trip your trigger, send it down the road. You can always say you had one. Maybe make a few bucks, worse comes to worse, break even. BTDT.
