Idaho SharpshooterRoger,
PM me if you would tomorrow some time. I have a Steve Earle Wesson action that is going to require some of your classic scratching...

yellowdog1Beautiful polishing job.
A question about your technique, if you wouldn't mind. On the before pictures I noticed some, what appear to be, pretty deep pits right on the top edges of the sides of the action. Did you just keep polishing until they were removed or did you fill them with weld before polishing?

ScrollcutterSteve,
Not sure, but there's time to figure it out. It's off to the stockmaker.
Yellowdog1,
No welding. Just polishing. There's lots of meat on these rifles. The problem comes with screwheads. I probably removed .010" off of the sides, which means the screwheads stick up that amount. No big really, but screws have to be re-domed or re-made.
