BiebsCustom VZ-24 Mauser by Gary Stiles
I used to have Gary do stock repairs on my rifles; filling chips, steaming out marks, touching up checkering, etc. He was friendly, fast, and inexpensive. We used to BS about everything related to firearms. I had talked to him on a Friday, and on Sunday I received a call from his sister that he had passed away.
I recently saw this rifle come up for sale, and I bought it for nostalgia reasons. It's a 30-06 on a military VZ-24 action with nice wood, inlet swivel mounts, ebony forend tip and grip cap, 2-position safety, one-piece bottom metal, aftermarket trigger and leather pad. Gary is missed :-(

Kolo-PanSorry for the loss of your dear friend. Its nice that you have purchased something of him to remember him by.
That appears to be a 2 position safety?

BiebsYes, you're right! 2 position. Corrected it.

Colin MastersI hate those big objective scopes.
Other than I always thought he was an incredible gunsmith.

BiebsColin, yes, that's a 50mm. I have a set of low Talleys...I'll mount a Leupold 2.5-8x36 on it when I get a chance.

I agree with your decision on the scope.
