Yo, still here in The Fatherland. Hope you & the family are doing fine Stateside.

We had another tremendous year in Hohenfels, it only rained sideways, snowed, sleeted & froze 50% of the time so the shooting was pretty good with Smiley Craig, Dr. Markus & the ususal suspects.

Don't be a stranger, you're always welcome at our campfire anytime you would care to re-new your Jagdschein. Let's continue to hear how the Feren does and Good Luck attempting to locate some info on the builder.

Cheers,

Not sure if Jim Feren is the smith, but it seems likely.

Here are a couple of blurbs about him from the web. Seems like if I can find this in 10 seconds with google someone else could as well.

quote:
Chick Donnelly was famous in his own right. P.O. Ackely got him established in business. He rebarrel many guns through his relationship with P.O. and Guns & Ammo magazine. He died about 8 years ago.

Jim Feren used his barrels and won many, many matches including most of the Coors matches from about '83 untill about '95. Jim Feren set the still existing 100 shot OH record in '93 with his Donnelly barrel. He also won bench rest matches against all comers and all other barrel makers at that time.

This from 2008:

quote:

I got paired up with Jim Feren twice at HP matches in Reno and Sacremento. Tough on a spotter?? My ass still bears the scars from a couple of minor miss called shots. He demands plus or minus an inch accuracy on shot hit location. Was always quick to correct me on a miss call. I shot next to him at the AZ state HP in Tucson in 2003. He was tough on his spotter then , too. Never again.
Last I heard he was a school teacher in Bullhead City, AZ. I'll bet those are the best behaved kids in the school system. Smiler

I don't know if he was the smith, but he damn sure could shoot......from the Angeles Shooting Hall of Fame:

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Idaho sharpshooter,
Didn't you write and covered the Coor's shooting matches for Precision Shooting?
Do you think this is the same Feren that Gatogordo is posting about?
