Unknown Markings on a German Custom
It is a German custom, not sure of the maker just yet. The shield and boot appear to be a Suhl proof mark of some kind? Any idea what the Eagle N is for? Any more information on either?

I just happened to be looking at Sauer drillings and the drilling pictured below happened to have the same markings.

Hopefully tomorrow I will get pictures of my new beauty.

The Eagle N is a Nitro proof mark. What is really interesting is the manufacture date; October 1943, during WW2. Yes, they built sporters during the height of the war.

I wondered if it was some form of Nitro proof. It is marked on the bolt, receiver, and barrel. It is in fact the only markings on the bolt and receiver (other than the belly of the receiver) The barrel has a few marks.

I hope to take pics this thursday, if not, I'll do a full detail photo shoot after my hog hunting trip.

manhasset, I had looked at that sight, but the eagles looked so different I wondered if it was the same thing or not?

I think their bombplanes was equipped with drillings as survivor guns. In case they got shot down. Might be a valuable gun you got there Fal Grunt Smiler
