Semi custom .300 H&H M98
I had an .30-06 laying around for years and had it rechambered to a.300 H&H + had the forend trimmed and added a Duane Wiebe bottom metal triggerguard several years back. I finally had it scoped. The trigger is Recknagel steelhousing with set-trigger. Scopemounts is Recknagels G9. Scope is a plain Karl Kaps 4x36.
The boltscroud is a colorcased with a-la-Dakota type safety.
The slot where a normal 8x57 5-shot-clip would fit has been milled out so the belt of the magnum case can slip through easely.

Here from last year shooting ironsights only

Very classy rifle!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Lots of things to like about that rifle, e.g., nice and trim, bolt checkering on the underside of the bolt only, big sling eyes. Nice.

Many thanks you all!!.

The barrel is a Shilen and the Mauser action is a S37 military contract from Oberndorf.

The bluing a saltbluing. Looks like porcelain but actually it is the cheapest way to make it look like a million. All my other rifles is rustblued so I wanted something different for a change.
The screwheads is hot flamed blued which gives a distinct look.
The flipsight sights is regulated(100+200meters) for a 220grain roundnose bullet at 2700 ft/sec so nothing dramatic. Just soft shooting and easyworking easyfeeding gun.

Lovely looking rifle. Karl Kaps scope looks nice as well. How do they compare to Schmidt & Bender /Zeiss and Swarovski?

Nice, nice shape! And I am thrilled you went with the real and traditional forearm checkering shape, with the front of the pattern being perpendicular to the axis of the bore. Great decision to make it real. That's classy!

Please, tell me more about this... I have been lukewarm to this style, but could learn to like it if it has roots in the great custom rifle makers of yesteryear.
