Hornady's First Rifle
I just noticed this gun a few days ago on Gunbroker. The last time I saw it the bid was around $18k. That wood stock is just homely! I don't understand why the bid is so high, even if this is serial number 1.Hornady was quick to point out that they aren't in the gun making business. It's a good thing they aren't. With that style the Hornady rifle would go the way of many of Thompson-Center's homely herd.

I saw it as well. Made Rosie O'Donnell look good.

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I saw it on another site as well. I thought it was too ugly to own, but I thought I may have missed something as I recall some big name builders were involved.

I like the scope

I found this bit a little "optimistic", but who knows.
"The Hornady Number One" needs only auction for more than $136,014.00 to break the all-time SHOT Show Auction record set in 2013.

Actually it's quite unique.....I doubt that it'd sell very well if mass produced..... but beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.....

Whoever selected the wood had absolutely no idea of proper layout--I wouldn't have it if it was given to me. The stock design is ridiculous, IMNSHO, but then I like classic designs with real checkering. I don't think anyone on the team had a clue.

I like a Monte Carlo but that one is a little too long. Actually, it's a lot too long but so is the rifle. The scope is big and ugly too. With that big ugly scope, mounted high, they might as well have put an adjustable comb and bipod on the rifle. They could then have added a big, ugly bolt knob and ten round magazine and gone after the tacticool market. Regards, Bill

The engraving is nice. And the rifle has a ......err... distinctive style all its own.

This is more an DESIGN-RIFLE, an "study", in the style: "what can we do..."

Im sure the price will go high...
But higher as 100.000 US dollars?
I dont think so, but we will see!

Maybe an Texas high-roller will buy this rifle (and Steve Hornady knows a lot of these gentleman)...

Best wishes.

It's like a bad car accident. You know you don't want to see it but you can't help but look.

It would look better if it was made from a bunch of Legos glued together.

So the action looks like a Howa clone. Which is what Nosler's M48 is. Don't get me wrong, the Howa/M48 is a great action, it just seems they would choose a different platform than their competition.

So that's what the kid would look like if a M48 Nosler had sex with an art deco table leg.
Good thing it is for charity I guess.

Someone likes it. Bid is up to $25,750.00.
I tried my hardest to envision myself paying even $1000.00 for that "rife" and I couldn't.
The design is way, way off for my liking.

I really don't get this. Someone must have looked at that design and approved it. Why? Lot's of class - all low!

UGLY. And, about $60K over priced, and that's only because it' has a decent scope.

I saw this rifle at SHOT, and yes the stock was not what one might hope or expect. However it was meant to be "unique" not a classic or copy in form and that I believe it achieved.
