Beretta682E"too nice to hunt with"
Do what I did.
I bought a cz 550 375 h&h (left handed). Sent it to Wayne (actually had him buy it). Gave it a number 2 upgrade - all functional and nothing aesthetic.
I hunted the gun hard.
Then sent it back to Wayne and got it all pretty with nice wood and refinishing the metal.
I hunt by blaser r8 hard,
My k95 I carry around in the field in a soft case

NormanConquestJon + Ray, I agree. When my eldest son got a new paint job on the 1964 P.U. I bought for him + he was all about don't touch it or lean on it, your belt buckle might scratch it. I said, just take your key + run down the side + get it over with.

I used to tell people who had new cars and were anal retentive about getting around them, to just park it in an intersection for 30 minutes and then go back, get it and drive it.

209jonesI like wood and bluing, and no matter how hard I try, something always happens to it. Scratched the stock on the SxS one day, tiny mark, but, I know it is there now. Dinged the forened on a SxS shotgun on another day, all my SXS shotguns have rubs on the barrel from being in a layout blind. It just is, it will happen, live with it, is the way I look at it.

+1
However, with time, even though you know its there, the pain and noticing it all of the time seems to fade. At least, that's been my experience.
