customboltAnyone have a custom bolt rifle in 7.65?
I saw a Coues deer hunt where the guy had a 7.65-.284 and it reminded me of my first rifle, a 7.65 Argentine M91.

Dulltool17No custom, Custom, but an original 7.65 Agry with all matching numbers. Other than those blasted piss poor sights, shoots well, handles well. Father-in law bought it back in the 60s when he was in the USAF. Hunted deer in Maine with it.
Bet you wish you still has yours.

customboltYes. I do. Sure would bring back some fond memories. It started as a new in the cosmoline '91 that got an aftermarket stock, most likely a R. Fagen, nothing else, no scope.

craigsterWell, sorta. The first pic is a '91, the upper rifle in the second pic is a DWM 98 rebarreled to 7.65.

SCGunNutI haven't built one yet but it is on my "to do" list. I would kill to have one of the elusive Winchester 54's or 70's in 7.65 but that ain't gonna happen! I missed a chance at a Remington 30 so chambered a few years ago. I want an actual "Sporting" rifle in 7.65, not a spiffed up military, so I plan to get one by rebarreling. Pac-Nor chambers for it. I have a Remington 78 I bought cheap with the intent of using it for a donor, but decided I wanted it in a more classic rifle, so I'll wait until another commercial Mauser comes along for the project.

Mark RHere is one I have. Still the original 7.65X 53 chambering.

customboltVery cool rifle. Do I spot some engraving on this? It's refreshing to see the interest in 7.65's in a world of the similar .308 Winchester. Thanks Craigster and SCGunNut.

I love the wood and checkering on this. I think this is a good example of 'less is more.'

Not sure. Would love some info on the rifle or builder. I picked it up off a guy who thought it was a 308W and new nothing about it. I had the blueing re-done in a rust blue.
Here's another pic....
Cheers,
Mark.

metalDefinitely an early Jeff Wilkins rifle circa 1977, according to a friend who knew him and his work very well.
Apparently Jeff got bored doing stock work, so he started chiselling steel as well then went on to become a master engraver.
Sadly he passed away well before his time, but not before producing some of the finest works of art in walnut and steel.
You can see some of them here-

enfieldsparesThis calibre was "sold" here in Great Britain by one of the British makers as 303 Rimless or somesuch name.
I forget which maker and what name. Maybe Martin or Gibbs are names that sound right..
On the internet some say that the ".303 Rimless" round used in the Farquhar-Hill rfifle was actually the Belgian 7.65x53mm Mauser round fitted with a normal 174 grain .303 ball bullet.
Not to be confused with the ".303 Rimless" experimental round for the Lewis Gun.

TRXI'll confess to a dirty little secret.
I wasn't a "black rifle" guy, so I didn't hear about the AR-10 until quite late. That's the .308-caliber predecessor to the M-16/AT-15. I found that many AR-10 copies used M-14 magazines. So I rooted around in the junkbox and found an M-14 magazine I'd acquired somewhere, and took out a box of my 7.65 reloads for my Model 1891, and they snicked right into the M-14 mag.
I'd really like to have an AR-10 in 7.65x53, just to mess with people's minds...
