Duplicator Pattern Stocks
Below is that little German Gem that arrived today. A little Schnabel restoration and it will be fine as a pattern.

LOP 13-1/2"
Drop at heel 1-3/4"
Drop at comb 5/8"
Cast off 3/8"

Checkered steel butt plate.

Horn grip cap.

With the Herters Mannlicher

At the top of the post are the measurements.

Classic dimensions for iron sights. Once a person has used an iron sighted rifle with the proper drop and cast off he will never go back to a straight stock. All a matter of stock fitting, my measurements are the same with the exception of LOP: My LOP is 14-1/4"

That style is growing on me. Looks like a Winchester buttplate there.

Biggest problems are the user want the options for both scope and iron. That makes everything a compromise and the stock works poorly for both options.

Too much drop at heel, my opinion. It is nostalgic.

That is my intent. Building a Nostalgic Continental style rifle.

Yep.

The rifles I intend to build for this stock style will be irons only.

My 270, 300 Win Mag, 338 Win Mag and the various varminters all have American style straight stocks for scoped rifles. NO irons.

woodhunter, as you are going to make a new forend tip. Why not make it so you could do a mann. style also by switching the ends out?

It mostly sits idle.

Good scoped rifle pattern.

Years ago I had the chore of sorting through this pile of patterns. Must have been over 200. Jim Wisner will recognize them.

More in the truck bed.
