Vol717Poll: which would you prefer if buying a custom Dakota 10
I’m considering buying a Dakota (Now Parkwest Arms) Model 10 single shot rifle. once I can no longer use it I would sell it. Which caliber would you prefer: 7X57 (275 Rigby) or 257 Roberts?Would you prefer a Parkwest Arms Model 10 Falling Block Single Shot Rifle chambered in 257 Roberts or 7X57?257 Roberts7X57

30.06kingA man like you could afford one of each

Request sequential serial numbers to increase thier potentail sale value and likelihood that they would sell as a pair

dpcdBuy it in either caliber and I will install the other one; switch barrel. But if you only have one, it will be the 7mm. More versatile. Although the 257 is also very versatile, able to use bullets from 80 to 120 grains.

Vol717I ‘m getting it in 275 Rigby just to confound people. I have a smoky piece of English, and I’ll order quarter rib and good irons , with Talley bases milled into the rib. I have an engraving plan of English scroll. Rust bluing and some casehardened parts should set it off.

sambarman338I guess the slower rifling twist won't be a problem, unless you go after elephants

KDGJThis is a nice looking finished rifle even if you don’t like Ron Spomer.

Vol717I’m not going to be shooting 175 grain 7mm solids through it like Bell did. I’m not sure you can buy solids in 7mm any more unless they are FMJ. In fact except for full metal jacket bullets, I don’t think anyone makes solids under .366 caliber(I have some North Forks). Spomer’s gun is nice but mine will have bespoke wood, quarter rib, good irons, engraving and rust bluing. I don’t like turnbull style case coloring, which is only decorative anyway. Bone charcoal hardening is more subtle and actually provides surface hardening.
