Ruger 10/22 M1 Carbine
Here's a couple of shots of a 10/22 I put together. The barrel, receiver and stock are all Ruger, with a Tactical Innovations trigger group holding a Kidd trigger. The rear sight is a genuine M1 Garand sight in a base I got from SARCO.

That is a really cool 10/22 build, very nice.

Practical, nostalgic, cheap to shoot. I would say it was probably a fun project.

It was rather fun. I lucked out on getting that stock. A guy on ebay had a couple and the one he pictured did not look nearly that good.

I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, weather has been too darned hot, upper 90's to low 100's for the last month, and my wife is having some foot surgery in a bit over a week, so it may be later next month before I get a chance to try it.

How did you create/mount the Garand rear sight?

I used this sight base from Sarco

http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/ruge...rear-sight-base.aspx

A surplus or reproduction M1 Garand sight fits.

The base is drilled to fit the rear scope mounting holes on a standard Ruger 10/22 receiver

I cannot take credit for the idea, Another gentleman posted where he had built one using a stainless receiver and barrel for a different look. He also had a lot of hints on fitting the sight which took a little tweaking,

Thanks for the link. I've always wanted to do something like that and considered chopping up a de-milled Garand receiver to do it. This is much better.

Ordering one tonight.

You're welcome. Here is a link on rimfire central where the other gent built his, and I got a lot of hints and guidance.

He made his in stainless so a lot of the detail shows up better than my blued model.

Got my sight base - very cool. Thanks again for the heads up.

When you install your sight, it may be very tight. I had to do like the other gent showed and push down hard on the cover spring to form it to fit better. Before doing that the windage adjustment would hardly move.

Good luck.
