hammer2506New Build 25-06
I have a Rem 700 XHR, i am thinking of a new barrel and a new stock, I will be staying with 25-06 cal, probably going to go with a remington varmint contour. My question is can some of you experienced guys recommend a reputable gunsmith that has a decent turn around. I am thinking of a Krieger barrel, comments and suggestions welcomed. This gun will be for mainly whitetail hunting and occasional target shooting. I have always wanted to build a custom gun and planning on finsihing this project.

Jim KobeIf you are planning a Krieger barrel, hurry and get your order in; 10-12 months now. If I have the barrel in hand, I can usually turn it around in three weeks or less.

clowdisNot much time for the finish to dry on the stock Jim? Or, were you just talking about a barreling job?

PeglegKeep your mind open on what brand barrel you use. Jim can help with that, I'm sure and his reputation speaks for his work. Good luck and I love the caliber choice.

JDA-COFor what its worth: Jim K. does outstanding work and is an honorable man. Most already know that…
There are equivalent barrels out there to the Krieger without the long wait. Like a previous poster said, talk to Jim about it.

Jim KobeI love Krieger barrels. My point being if he wants a Krieger, get it ordered now. I use a lot of others also.
