Mark TaylorBolt mounted peep
Anyone ever put one on a Krag? Specifically a Norwegian. Got one in the process of putting together. Had the barreld action forever and finally doing it. Would think there has to be a way.

This Springfield 1898 in .30/40 Krag belonged to my wife’s grandfather who nicely sporterized it. The barrel has been cut down and re-crowned with a Marble’s No. 3 ivory bead and a Lyman 1A peep sight dovetailed into the bolt plunger. This rifle was manufactured in 1901, and 111 years later I was fortunate to kill two does while stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. The bolt is glass smooth and since it is in such nice, if not original, condition, I only hunt with it on perfectly dry days.23 September 2018, 17:51
Mark TaylorVery nice. Having a hard time seeing detail. Pic isn't expanding well for me. Was the knob taken off the back to mount the peep?

MJinesI would call John McLaughlin (McLaughlin Custom Firearms) and ask him (406-422-0867). I would be surprised if he has not encountered a Krag in the past with his custom made Rigby peep sights.

Man, that looks like the one that I gave Ed B to give away at a forum get together. Krag's have always had the smoothest bolts.
