A Wiebe pair - In progress phots

These are not mine, but Duane asked that I post them for him. He says "There will be photos of the finished pair, but thought you guys might like to see an example of Charles Lee's work in the white."

Certainly looks like some nice work there.

Were the actions ordered/purchased without being drilled & tapped, or have the holes in the receiver ring been filled or covered?

Can't wait to see more of these two.

I installed a couple tapered plugs with an "inertia transfer device' Chales' stippling made the plugs invisible

These are the completed pair that Charles Lee engraved...300 H&H and 375 H&H. Left Hand Dakota's, headed for Zimbabwe 2011. I did not have the guts to try and weld on the square bridge base because of little tiny sharp corners around the bolt stop...These are soldered and I was able to drill and tap an 8x40 from the bottom.

Any chance that you have a picture of the bottom blank before you profiled it?

Pretty guns.

I do have a question, how does the placing a scope ring on the end of the bell of the scope work? Are there any concerns with doing this? I'm asking because I don't think I've ever seen this done before.

I know Mr. Wiebe is one of the top riflesmiths, so its not trying to be contrary, but rather trying to learn when/why one would do this.

crbutler: these are Suhler type claw mounts. A pair of ""hooks" lock into the front base and a spring loaded catch locks the rear. Therefore the pivot point needs to be near the "hook"

What do you mean, has to go?
Customers fittings? Or the looks of the 1/4-rib?
Here is a pic of another of your masterpieces, almost same scope placed an inch longer foreward? How do you decide were to put it?

Bent: I determine the customer's eye location when he's mounting the rifle.

Find the eye relief and....that's where it's gotta go!

This is all done prior to making the quarter rib or front foot
