Aaron LittleTakedown Mauser
I am working on a takedown mauser built by Montana gunsmith R. Hanson. The original barrel is in .35 Whelen, and is stocked the full length. I am in the process of fitting another barrel, a .270 WIN. I am needing a piece of forend(guessing claro?) wood that closely matches the original. Anyone have anything? This one will have a standard forend length of around 8-9" w/ebony tip.
I'll post finished pictures in a few weeks.
Looks like any piece of straight grained walnut will work, after you stain it.

Aaron LittleNot sure on Hanson. His system is pretty easy to duplicate.

Austin HunterThat's pretty sweet. Show pics when you are done with the 270 barrel!

Aaron LittleIm about to ship the rifle with original .35Whelen barrel back to the customer for hunting season. Some setbacks including leaving past employment and getting my own shop delayed proper progression. Alas the .270 barrel is fitted w/takedown hardware as is the new forend wood. Just a matter of finish work.
Due to splitting up the rifle and new barrel there wont be any finished pics on my accord.

Big Wonderful WyomingIt is an Orth patent isn't it? Same way they have been made for over a hundred years.

Idaho SharpshooterPerhaps go European, and have one built in 6,5 and 8mm X 68 Shuler?
I could enjoy having one of those...
