bwanamrmFinally, some great custom rifles unveiled again. Fantastic lines and appreciate the overall look of this rifle. Gorgeous gun!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

butchlambertDamn Roger, Isn't that the blank that I wanted that you misplaced?
Beautiful rifle with a group of great craftsmen working on it.

458WinNow that would also be a righteous 6.5 Grendel!
Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

lshopperIn my estimation that is the standard for what a bolt actioned rifle should look like. Absolutely beautiful. Why can't one of the major rifle manufacturers (not Remington) make a stock profile like that. It would add a touch of class not seen in a half century to the commonly affordable rifle. I hope the barrel gets shot out on that gun. Would be ashamed for it to still look that nice in 10 years.

RockdocWonderful, stunning!
Would never have guessed it was on such a small action. Looks like a proper big game rifle. Well done.

CougarzWell done rifle. Classic lines and a nice piece of wood. I for one appreciate wood that has some figure without being over the top.

TimanVery cool rifle indeed.

AtkinsonI built one along the same lines in 6x45, it shoots .200 give or take a bit, so I never put the irons on it, scared the heat might effect that accuracy, but I will someday,,Its my 5.5 Lb. African walk about rockchuck rifle, but Ive mostly hunted Antelope and deer with it and the 80 gr. GS Custom bullet..I built it in 1981 or 82...has mod 70 safety made from a bull barrel 30-06...They are such beautifull little actions and scaled to the rounds..
YOu did yourself proud on that one, great dark wood..

Great pics too. They don't just fall out of a cellphone with a flash, do they?
Nice soft light. My best guess. Outside on an overcast cloudy day?

Thanks James, yes you’re right thats how we did it. I waited for the right day, we flew into it then just before we finished it started to rain.

BushchookThat is the prettiest L461 I've ever seen. I love everything about it except perhaps the choice of scope mounting systems.
The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

customboltSuperb in all respects. Love the proportions. Hope Roger loves it too. Fantastic wood.
Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

eezridrI would never mount a scope on that rifle. Learn to use those opens.
A scope on it is like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa

Me too. It would be a shame if it only sees daylight for a photo shoot.

ZekeShikarOh boy! I absolutely love it!
I've got a couple L461's that will have to be done for a couple of my daughters so you've set the bar way high for me. I hope I'm up to the task.
Congratulations for being so damn good....and sharing the pics with us

Mike McGuireThat could be a very costly gun. It sure invites a couple of scaled up versions in the Sako Forrester and Finnbear

Be a real nice trio.
Great looking rifle, one the best I have seen.

lindy2The cheekpiece detail and the crispness of that checkering are absolutely wonderful.
On the whole, a piece that is just a tad down from severely classic because of the racy line of the long grip. seems like everything that needs to be there is there, and nothing is there that doesn't need to be there. Duane's bottom metal also looks crisp! Now perhaps a few scratches in the metalwork?
A rifle to keep for a lifetime!!!!

srtraxThat's sweet...every line on it is perfect/clean to the whole. Nice work!

CraftsmanVery nice work. I never understood why older Sakos have not been used for custom rifle projects more often, they are such fine rifles. Tasteful treatment on the bolt handle.
