Christensen Arms 338/378 wby
A friend was looking to buy a Christensen Arms 338/378 Weatherby rifle. I looked at the photo of it and told him it was a Rem 700 action. He confirmed that it was. Is that an okay thing to do, such a big cartridge on a Rem 700 action?

PoppaWI saw a 35-416 Rigby on one for 1000yd shooting. It was single shot but a mag could be made to work. I wouldn't do it but some have.
Off topic but aren't Christensen Arms rifles supposed to be very light weight? Why do most people that order them choose such hard kicking calibers? Just curius.

TC1,
They have a brake in the large calibers. I guess people order them for light weight and long distance. My buddy wanted one because he is a "collector" and does not have a carbon fiber barrel or a 338/378 caliber. I doubt he would ever hunt with it.

BrandoI have had the pleasure of meeting a few of the guys directly involved with Christensen arms. And they make a qulaity firearm.
My personal favorite was the 300 Mag that had a weight of like 4.5lbs...Sure it kicked like a pissed off rhino, but thats why they make the Lead Sled. And when you hunting you only need one good shot...

butchlambertI've never carried a lead sled hunting. If you can't spend a little time in the gym getting in shape to carry a 10lb. rifle, you probably can't walk very far to hunt.
My Son was stationed in Osan twice with the U2 squadron. He thought it was good duty.

BrandoI was speaking about the lead sled for sighting and range purposes...
I thought a heavy rifle was over rated too until I tried carrying my Sendero 7mm mag in the mountains of WV. Im in good shape as well and that extra 4lbs of weight over my 308 is drastically different after an all day hunt up and down those moutain sides.
Not saying that its that bad of a strain on you, but my shoulder sure as hell doesnt complain near as much with my lightweight rifle.
Korea is a very good assignment for single people. Married couples with families tend to have a harder time apart. But im 27 yrs old and single so I love it here. I save plenty of cash for my firearms wishlist and still have extra to go around and party if I want too.
