Just wondering what people think an excellent condition FN Supreme Action should bring. Hoping to buy one at an auction, missed the last one for a stupid low price...

Let's see MKXs are going for $275-300+ yep I sure would pay $250 for a supreme. I think the 250 is $150-200 low.

Well, I let it go at $450, it was barreled, but barrel maker was unknown and the stock was junk.

I was not paying attention, the last auction I was at an FN Supreme action was built into a sad sporter. Everything was... well... sad.

Was not paying attention and it sold for $200.

Well about twenty five years ago at a gunshow I did buy two FN Supreme actions in the white with consectutive serial numbers for $80.00 each. I tried to but the third which was consecutive to the other two but it was sold.

Fellas, yes, $250 is a good price, but I paid $185 for a Deluxe 7mm barreled action at the Albuquerque gun show, decided I didn't need any more, sold it right here on the AR classifieds in August for $285. Sorry you weren't around.

If I read the post correctly, it ask a/b a FN Supreme, not deluxe. Did I miss something ?

Worth even less IMO, inferior trigger safety, crappy bottom metal.

I really do not know... I am not a FN expert, but it just does not add up to me?

The trigger safety I cannot comment on... it sure seems to work nicely.. but I have not used it in the field. The M70 style trigger sure is nice, too.

Some Supreme bottom metal is aluminum. I prefer military style floorplate release like on Deluxe and do not care for the exterior floorplate release outside the TG on the Supreme. Also do not like the sheet metal bolt release on Browning-style Supremes. Much prefer a bolt safety to a trigger safety. Maybe "crappy" was a little much but I prefer a Deluxe to a Supreme. Both great actions, I've owned 42 of both, JMHO, to each his own.

I have to agree. I do not like that the floorplate latch is located on the outside of the trigger bow. They also tend to be pretty loose. For those reasons I like the Deluxe better myself. Maybe because my first Bolt Action was a 700 ADL. I like nice hinged bottom metal as much as the next guy but the majority of my rifles have the FN Deluxe style which includes reworked milsurps.

And, while I like the Sako trigger on the Supreme, I do not particularly care for the cuts required to the receiver. Even worse are the Interarms Mk X's, they start to remind me of CZ550's with all those cuts all over the receiver.

I recently picked up a neat FN variant that combined the Supreme's trigger with the Deluxe's bottom metal. It would have been perfect had it had the Deluxe shroud safety. Sold by a third party using FN supplied actions.

My gunsmith just makes those little levers on the bottom of the floor plate like the pre-WWII Mauser sporters have.

Don't the smiths you all frequent just "make" the parts they need? Mine does.

Rich, who was talking about making any parts? Maybe you got the wrong thread?

Those little levers look neat, but don't feel so good in the hand when you're carrying the rifle. No, I like the FN Deluxe bottom metal just the way it is.

Those levers are great too for catching on clothing or brush, opening easily and dumping ammo at the wrong time. I don't like them either.

OK guys (CC, Ramrod, Hoss, etc): there is an FN Supreme Monkey Wards rifle on the classified forum for $300 shipped, not just the action, been up all day with no takers.
Talk seems to be even cheaper around here.

If anyone can find good things at ridiculousy low prices its fla3006. I had to quit going to gunshows with him after he walked up with a pristine 458 Whitworth Express (real Whitworth with the castle ensignia) he bought for $500.00. Ten minutes after he walked in.

The top rifle is a Vanpatten rifle built on a 7x57 works great for a worthless actionFN/SAKO action.

Are the bolt handles on the FN actions, attached to the bolts? Or are they machined from one piece with the bolt?


Im looking into a HVA 640, but they use the FN action. So Im just wondering if they are made the same way?
