This belongs to a friend/customer that I work with. It started out as a police sniper rifle that should have never left the Remington factory. Lots wrong with it...to make a long story short, I rebarreled it with a ( Schneider) Marine stainless steel .308 barrel, bedded it in epoxy, reworked the trigger, then camo'd the stock and scope and coated the barrel in olive drab, all at his specs. This is what I ended up with. I'm not much on plastic stocks and camo...I love beautiful wood and blued steel, but I'm thinking I need one of these

Very nice, I like it.! Nice to see the factory bolt handle rather than one those tactical gear shift knobs. That shade of green is very pleasing to the eye.

It is like a performance car to me! To heck with how it looks, hows it perform?

This belongs to a new AR member by the name jackrabbit. I shot some factory rounds through it to check the match chamber. Maybe when he gets his reloads adjusted to this redo he'll chime in and give a range report...I'd like to know too.

A slick rust blued/ beautiful walnut rifle will always get my interest, but there will always be a hole in my gun safe for a heavy barreled rifle able shot tiny groups. They certainly don't appeal to the eye like the former but make up for it when they hit the bench.

It's probably just the camera but that's the brightest olive drab I've ever seen I like it.

I like the green, would have never thought of it myself. The camera really picks it up as it doesnt stand out that much in person. Had it been mine I was thinking of wrapping some netting around all that and come up with a spider web effect...But I like it as is, and it is pleasing to the eye.

The face of the reciever had been ground at the factory, but looked as if it was done with a hack saw. When barrel and reciever locked up caused a slight curve to factory recoil lug. (replaced that with a Tubs recoil lug between new barrel and reciever, if I remember right it is .372 thich and had to mill out a tiny bit of aluninum at the bottom of stock to fit...its massive compared to the factory washer.
Only had one lug from the bolt touching. This is usally an easy fix, a little compound and a little elbow grease. This sob was so far off I got out some very agressive vale grinding compound and 3 to 4 hours latter got a 100% contact. Had a peice of metal fall out durring this process...WTF is that?...one nasty burr in reciever.
I thought he told me this is a factory stock. (Dont know for sure) but it had some kind of light, somewhat soft gray material that was easy to remove from the forend. This stock has the aluninum running through out the action and forend. It was beded with Acraglass and as I suspected only the bottom 1/3rd of the reciever was makeing contact to the stock with mild slipage back and forth.
Other than that it wasnt bad!
I'm not much on detackable magazines, but I like this one on this rifle, well know that it clips in solid now!
Even so it shot quarter size groups...I'll be disappointed if it doesnt shoot dime size groups!

He thought about it... but being a lefty thought it wouldnt make that much diffrence. (I like the factory handle better myself!)

We ordered Brownells Gun-Kote #083-051-008 matte o.d. green, spray and bake. The stuff wouldnt even start to spray out of the can, I have 2 other cans of brownells bake spray that worked for alittle bit and now wont work at all. Yes they have amoney back gaurantee (sp) but I think as soon as the rifle is sighted these will be the first to go! No more spray cans from Brownells.
If it doesnt stay well we'll send it to someone and have it coated by other means!
Oh, he had a one gun glass bed kit from them too that didnt set up, had to dig it all out and get my shop kit out and do it over. Didnt mean to make this a pissing on Brownells....but!!!! I wont be buying any spray products from them anytime soon
After paint I had it in the padded vise and it took a few bumps here and there and it held up good there! We'll see...

I had two batches of "acra-gel" in a row that came to me with something wrong with them. For both the "gel" part was about the consistancy of cottage cheese. harder lumps mixed in with a thin liquid.

Wierd... I sent them both back and the rep from brownells profusely apologized. They sent me one for free... and it was good!

Great looking rifle! At first I was going to post that the green was way to GREEN for me, but then I read your post about it.

My Mauser .308 w/ a Shilen #4 shoots quarter sized groups with ease, so I think his will SURELY shoot dime sized groups. Looking forward to the range report.

Starting my 6.5x47 "tactical" 700 this summer.

get it to you as soon as i get a chance srtrax built me a bad ass 300 mag longest shot made with it 900 yards 3 shots in a phone book

Well, we have the regular size(10 3/4 X 8 1/2) and then the small ones are like 8" X 7", doin' damn good to hit that #900yds.
