kill trap for cats?
kill trap for cats?
Last night I pull up to the house and there are 7 cats sitting on my concrete pin-pong table having sex.
So how do I set a trap that will kill them instantly.
1. it needs to keep them from screaming.
2. it needs to kill them dead
3. I need to be able to set up a couple of them.
4. it should be inexpensive.
Coni-bear? is that right? I had heard they kill.

CRUSHERjust use a live trap have a heart type that way you havent broken any law until you toss it in the pool. easyer to just haul them to the pound all straight and legal too risky to kill fluffy now days.

a conibear will usually not kill instantly.they will make a lot of noise for a few minutes.better to cart them to the pound,or make a drowning set.

Eland Slayerbowl of cat food + bowl of milk + pellet rifle = some dead cats

WHELENIZERA good Austrailian shepherd will do the trick. I haven't met one yet that doesn't hate cats. Tuna and Prestone works good too..

onefunzr2Take a piece of bread, inject it with Paraquat(herbicide), wrap it with boiled ham or some other lunch meat. Set out for the offending felines. Guaranteed dead right away without noise or blood splatter.
This bait worked quite well on noisy animals that kept me awake during my college years. Some pet owners have no idea how much commotion their pets cause while they are away.

Matt in Virginiafwiw,
Spend the money on a Havahart, the model with both ends open, and a case of seafood flavored cat food. Tuna fish in oil is also a winner. They rarely ever make much noise even the ferals. You might not get them all in one night, however, you can clean them out in a few. A Colibri to the base of the skull is the simplest and quietest way to proceed. Or so I've heard...(grin)
My battle scarred Hav-a-hart has captured something over a hundred cats...fwiw.
Regards, Matt.

BuglemintodayEither a Pellet rifle (sighted in with a scope)
Or a #220 or #330 Conibear. I have chased animals into holes that had conibears guarding them and have literally watched them die within seconds. It is hard to squack when your neck and back are broke and you are sandwiched

A sound moderated .22 will do the trick every time. Or buy some CB shorts - they make no more noise than your average pellet gun.
Otherwise, use poison or a live catch trap/later disposal method. Any kill trap you buy is going allow the cat to squawk till it expires.

Swamp_FoxIt doesn't kill them instantly but it will kill several in a night.
Fill a 55 gal drum about 1/2 full of water.
Put about 2" of foam peanuts on the water.
Screw a can of cat food about half way between the peanuts and the top of the barrel.

edholumConibear bucket sets will work well. If a conibear is set right it should kill within seconds. Put a little tuna or fish in the back of the bucket and remove the cat in the morning. Repeat night after night

ted thorn#330 conibear will kill everthing that puts it's head and kneck into.
They are about $25-$30 bucks and you will need the tool to set them....more money.
I made a giant box trap from scrap lumber.
12"x12"x40" I caught every cat in the area on the very first night....even my own.
What I did then was took them on a long drive into the woods with a .22 short. But not my cat....he was the test animal.

I saw one of the smartest cats alive. My cousin had an Austrailian shepherd that killed every cat it could catch. But this one cat would actually play dead if caught in the open.
But I do like swamp_fox's barrel idea

SILVERBUZZARDI worked at the mill [ northwest Indiana ] upon high school graduation in '70. The crane men would hang a magnetic "hook' with a 5 ton cold rolled steel coil on it about 5 feet off the ground and then throw bread under it. Within minutes, a rat or mouse would go to the bread and then the craneman would cut power to the hook, causing it to drop on the creature. This shook the entire mill and definitely smashed the thing flat ,try that

Nomo4meWasn't the Acme Steel mill was it? I worked for them for a few years - after they built the new plant in '96

ravenrhow quiet do you have to be?
a small plastic water bottle with the bottom cut out, taped onto the end of a 22 loaded with shorts make very little noise and the cats don't either.
