I suppose it might attract more tourists this way, but I also hate to see this done.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

In some ways cut up may be better.
I come from a family of tall people. Getting into a sub would be claustrophobic I am sure. One of my brothers feels the same way.
I climbed into a Jap tank once and could not get out fast enough.

I've been thru the U505 Boat at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Yes, it was a bit cramped, but very impressive.

Three U-Boats found in Black Sea

I am currently reading "End Game, 1945" by David Stafford- Stafford describes a U-Boat, U-776, being sailed into the Thames within a month after VE Day, and moored at Westminster Pier.

When I was a kid growing up near Cleveland, my father took me one Saturday to walk through the "Cod", a US sub- we had the whole thing to ourselves, and even for a kid, it was cramped.

For those intereseted there is a very interesting site at http://www.uboat.net/ - gives the daily ships sank, uboats lost, etc. and a tone of details about the WWII boats, the men and the war. Membership is an option but tons of the data is in open format - the entire U-boat commander database (all commands, patrols, successes, biographical text if available)is open data. Enjoy.

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

I read a book last year called "Shadow Divers" about a group that recently found a u-boat sunk 60 or so miles off NYC. Interesting book about how they identified the sub and stuff, had a few divers killed on it too.

Another interesting thing is they decided it was killed by one of its own torpedoes, I guess they would call them "circle runners" where for whatever reason the rogue torpedo ran in a circle and hit the sub.

If this sub was in one piece, that what a shame!!! Only 4 of them left in the world, they should have kept it in one piece.
