Another Mauser ID question
Bought one today for $110 out the door. A yugo M48 with matching bolt , stock, floorplate, and reciever. It has alot of original bluing and russian writing followed by a 44 on the side of the reciever. Bore is real dirty with strong rifling. I'll be busy on it for awhile.

The russian writing on the side of the reciever.I've seen alot of these M48's that say "Preduzece 44" on the side of the reciever. Mine has russian writing with 44.

No. That's Serbian writing. They use a variant of the Cyrillic alphabet. Not quite the same as the Russian. We transliterate it as "Preduzece 44," which roughly translates to "Factory 44."

That "Russian Writing" spells "Preduzece 44" in the Cyrillic alphabet!

Thanks for the info...the rifle cleaned up real nice and as soon as I round up some ammo it's off to the shooting place for some fun.
